This is a small, first generation family farm growing diverse types of food products sustainably using organic and regenerative agriculture practices. Justina and Dave are new farmers as of 2023, and are working on expanding our business and our offerings.
MHF is a first generation farm focusing on producing healthy animal products, fruit, and vegetables. The farm was designed using permaculture and regenerative agriculture strategies to integrate food production into the natural ecosystem. We have planted almost 1000 trees in the last three years, including several willow cultivars, hybrid poplar, and honey locust as fodder for the sheep, and white spruce and black walnut as windbreaks and for future timber value. We are developing silvo-pasture areas in the woods to help regenerate the stifled ecosystem, rotationally grazing small ruminants(sheep and goats), utilizing cover crops and interseeding the pasture to improve soil health and the resilience of our flock. Every fall we sell live animals as flock-starters, and for self-harvest using our simple processing area.
