Cultivating The Commons Seed

Seeds Grown Here,
for Growing Here

Cultivating the Commons specializes in producing certified organic seeds for gardens and farms. Unlike many seed companies, Cultivating the Commons grows nearly every seed it sells—right here in the Upper Midwest, without relying on middlemen.

With nearly 15 years of experience in organic agriculture, the farm focuses on preserving the connection between locally grown seed, thriving gardens, and the food that reaches the table. Its growers select varieties that perform well in the region and produce food they genuinely love to prepare, cook, and eat.

Through careful seed saving, regional adaptation, and certified organic growing practices, Cultivating the Commons offers quality seed that gardeners and farmers can depend upon.

Meet Your Farmers

Clint Freund grew up on a small Wisconsin dairy farm and found his way back to agriculture after studying music in college. His curiosity about where vegetables begin led him to apprentice with experienced seed growers before returning to Wisconsin to establish Cultivating the Commons. Today, Clint grows certified organic vegetable seed selected for the Upper Midwest and works to strengthen a regional seed system shaped by the knowledge and needs of local growers.
